YOUTH LITERACY PROGRAM- METRO MANILA QUIZ B

THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION QUIZ B

              (Youth Literacy Program )

 RC MAKATI POBLACION recently concluded its NCR (NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION) QUIZ B competition. Held in 13 cities of Metro Manila, the 13 interdivision competitions  started last January 19 until Feb 5,2010.

The grand YOUTH LITERACY PROGRAM NCR Quiz B 2010 is an intellectual competition among the best and the brightest students from the secondary public and private schools in the National Capital Region (NCR).  This is a project of Rotary Club of Makati Poblacion , is in coordination  with, DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, Makati  Department of Youth and Sports Development under CP JUNJUN BINAY , Makati Social Welfare, under PP MARGE DE VEYRA , the Bigay-Pagmamahal Scholars Organization, STI, and TALKSHOP, SAMPIRO ROTARACT CLUB and MAKATI NETWORK.

.GENERAL OBJECTIVES of the competition  were the following:

• to provide a venue for students to develop camaraderie and brotherhood among themselves
• to provide an opportunity for students to represent their schools in a national competition challenge
• to inspire students to focus their attention on productive endeavors that hone their intellectual competence and leadership potentials

The  city  that sent the most number of school participants was from QUEZON CITY, sending 28 schools both from public and private.Other competition days had 80 to 100 participants.but Quezon City  had about 200 in attendance.

The final competition will be held MARCH 12, 2010 @ THE UNIVERSITY OF MAKATI GRAND THEATRE., 7 am to 12 noon.The activity is open to the public

Confirmed to attend are approximately 1000  students, mentors and guests from all the cities that participated in the 13 day competition.

The grand LITERACY PROJECT is chaired by RCMP CLUB SERVICE DIRECTOR SHEILA VIESCA and EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR/VP (CP) MORENA S CANIZARES, who conceptualized the program,with another objective of BRINGING BACK TO THE BASICS , the  highly ‘I.T ‘ state of the youth, whose dependency on their computers, at times have missed the excitement of a QUIZ B COMPETITION.
